Shaping Lives Fund

Thank you, WPGA families and friends, for donating over $560,000 to the Shaping Lives Annual Fund for Giving Tuesday on December 3, 2024!
What is the Shaping Lives Fund?
The Shaping Lives Fund is our annual campaign dedicated to providing all WPGA students with the resources and support for their learning and growth, so they reach their fullest potential. The Shaping Lives Fund is the cornerstone of fundraising at WPGA.

Each year, School Leadership establishes key priorities that align with strategic goals and address emerging annual needs. This ensures that all funds raised are directed toward fulfilling our mission of inquiry, action and joy. Click for our brochure for 2024-25, with priority areas of focus.

By donating to the Shaping Lives Fund, you support curriculum enhancements, innovative partnerships, special projects and essential facility upgrades that make our academic and cocurricular opportunities truly exceptional.

When Should I Give?
Although gifts to the Shaping Lives Fund are welcome any time of year, we officially launch the program in the fall. Donations can be made or by cheque (please submit and email or drop off to the Advancement Office).

Ways to Give

  • One Time or Monthly Gifts: These can be made by credit card. Or, to donate by cheque, please complete and deliver to junior reception or mail to the school (attn: Advancement Office).
  • Gifts of Securities or Stocks: Donating a gift of securities is a tax-efficient way to support WPGA. Those who donate appreciated securities (including stocks, bonds and mutual funds) directly to a registered charity eliminate capital gains on the investment. For more information, contact the Advancement Office or complete .
Acknowledgements
All donors to WPGA receive a charitable tax receipt and are acknowledged in our Annual Report. How you are recognized is important to us, so please take a moment to fill in the recognition portion on the giving form or contact the Advancement Office. Gifts may be anonymous (names will not be listed in the Annual Report).

List of 5 frequently asked questions.

    • Q. I already pay tuition; why are donations important?

Like all nonprofit independent schools, tuition and government grants cover functional programming, staff compensation and operational maintenance at WPGA. The Shaping Lives Fund helps to keep tuition as low as possible while enabling the school to provide exceptional programs, enriched curriculum and cocurricular offerings. Gifts to the Shaping Lives Fund are tax-deductible.
    • Q. Will my gift really make an impact? What if I can contribute only a nominal amount?

We believe that each gift is meaningful. Collectively, our gifts have a tremendous impact. All donations to the Shaping Lives Fund are directed to the school's priority needs for the current school year.  Each year, we report back to our generous parent community on the projects completed and their impact on our students' educational experience.
    • Q. Are all WPGA families expected to give to the Shaping Lives Annual Fund?

Our goal is to have as many people participate in the Shaping Lives Fund as possible, including parents, Board members, teachers and staff. Our ultimate goal is 100% participation, and we invite you to help us reach that goal!
    • Q. Can I designate my gift?

Funding priorities are identified by teachers and staff and vetted by the School Leadership Team. Gifts over $10,000 can be directed to an area of focus in discussion with the Advancement Office.
    • Q. Can I provide a matching gift?

Yes, we encourage becoming a matching donor, particularly for our Giving Tuesday campaign each year. There are different ways to organize your match and we can discuss what works for you. Some employers also provide a matching donation for your gift to WPGA, so it’s always great to check.
